Commissioner’s Role

The Commissioner, an independent officer of the Legislative Assembly, has a dual role. The Commissioner receives pay equity complaints, conducts investigations, assists parties to resolve complaints and prepares investigation reports. The Commissioner also fosters greater understanding and awareness of the right to equal pay for work of equal value.

The Commissioner must prepare an annual report each year, by July 1, and submit it to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The annual report sets out the activities of the Equal Pay Commissioner in the discharge of his or her duties during the preceding year.
