A complaint must be made in writing and must set out the allegations that the employee makes to substantiate their claim that they have not received equal pay for work of equal value.
The following information should be included in the complaint:
- the complainant’s name,
- the name of the establishment (either GNWT public service, Northwest Territories Power Corporation or NWT teachers),
- the complainant’s job title at the time of the alleged infraction,
- how much the complainant was paid at the time of the alleged infraction,
- which comparator group (male group) the complainant alleges was paid more for work of equal value, what work that group does or did, and how much they were paid, and
- the remedy that the complainant is requesting.
The complainant may provide additional information if they wish to do so. The complainant may be asked to provide additional information that the Pay Equity Commissioner requests.
